About

A small magazine for rented air.

Loftaire is for people who live in studios and one-bedrooms they do not own. You cannot rip out the HVAC. You should not drill a vent. You still have to breathe here.

We write lease-safe indoor-air guides: portable machines, habits you can undo at move-out, and the questions landlord blogs usually skip. If a how-to tells you to cut a hole or swap a furnace, it was written for a homeowner.

J. Rowan

J. Rowan writes Loftaire. Background in data and evidence evaluation; no HVAC license, no lab. That's why every number here is a manufacturer's published spec with a date — and why the site says so when sources disagree.

What lease-safe means

Plug into an outlet that is already there. Sit the box on the floor or a table. Take it with you when the lease ends. No holes, no brackets, no hardwired vents, no “ask the landlord to install an ERV.”

What we will not do

We are not a lab. We do not invent CADR, decibels, prices, or first-person tests. We do not present medical or legal advice as fact. We do not run a trophy page for the head term “best air purifier.” When a number matters, we cite the manufacturer as of the date on the page, or we tell you to read the listing in front of you.

How the site is supported

Some links may earn a commission. Product links use untagged Amazon /dp/ URLs to named SKUs. We do not take payment to rank products. See Disclosure.
